Master's Program in Biotechnology

APPLICATION CONDITIONS

Academic Requirements:

Academic Requirements for Applicants: Graduates with degrees in one of the following fields: Biotechnology, Biology, Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Ecology, Genetics, Post-Harvest Technology, Applied Biology, Plant Protection, Agriculture Promotion, Aquaculture, Veterinary, Animal Science, Agriculture, Crop Science, Medical Engineering, Biological Engineering

Applicants must have graduated with outstanding GPAs or with at least two (02) years' working experience in their respective fields (with recommendation letter(s) from undergraduate thesis supervisor(s) or reference letter(s) from employer(s) or a copy of the employment contract).

Applicant Pools:

* Graduates from International programs (i.e. foreigners, international graduates, transfer program graduates, dual-degree graduates) are regarded as Applicant Pool 1

** Biotechnology graduates from International University with accumulative credits fewer than 135 credits are regarded as Applicant Pool 1 if have taken undergraduate Developmental Biology course

English Requirements:

Applicants must have achieved IELTS ≥ 4.5, TOEFL iBT ≥ 35 or equivalent English proficiency level or participate in IU's English test

Entrance Examinations:

Applicants must take part in the following entrance examinations:

  • General Knowledge
    • Questions provided in two (02) identical sets in English and Vietnamese
    • Applicant chooses one (01) of the two sets of questions and must write their answers in the same throughout the examination
  • Interview: In-person in English
  • English: Unless the applicants have achieved IELTS ≥ 4.5, TOEFL iBT ≥ 35 or equivalent English proficiency

The organization, questions, grades, grade revision and result publication are compliant to the admission policies of the Viet Nam National University - Ho Chi Minh city

The passing grade is 5 (out of 10) and the University reserves the right to restrict the number of intakes based on entrance year's quota, overall grades and applicants' ranking among peers.

PhD Program in Biotechnology

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1.     General requirements

Candidates must meet these requirements:

– Having a master degree or having your name listed in the Decision of graduation from a master program; or having college degree or having your name listed in the Decision of graduation from an undergraduate program with a cumulative GPA of 8.0 or higher (on a 10-point scale) in the major relating to Biotechnology; or having graduated from programs of a level 7 equivalent to the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework in specialized field suitable for doctoral training.

– Having research experience reflected in the master's thesis of the research-oriented training programs or published scientific articles; or have a working for 02 years (24 months) or more as a lecturer or researcher of training institutions, scientific and technological organizations.

– Having English proficiency level as specified in the Regulations on admission of graduate program of International University HCMC – VNU.

2.     English requirements

Candidates are exempt from the English assessment when meeting one of the following required diplomas and certificates:

– University-level degree or higher from foreign full-time training program in which the language of instruction is English; or a university degree or higher in English language; or a university-level degree or higher whose instructing language in English;

– One of the minimum English certificates equivalent to level 4 according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam (valid for 2 years from the date of issuance of the certificate to the date of registration, issued by an institution recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training or VNU-HCM:

Academic Requirements for Applicants: Applicants who have an undergraduate degree in: Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Medicine, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Aquaculture, with good grades or with at least two (02) years' working experience in their field.
