With nonstop efforts and enormous supports in the last decade for the development of Biomedical Engineering in Vietnam, the field has rapidly emerged and achieved initial successes in both education and research since the first conference in 2005 to the 6th in 2016. Upon the success, in 2018, we organize the 7th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering in Vietnam, aiming to promote the link between education, research and entrepreneurship with the goal to translate research results into the improvement of the public’s health in Vietnam and developing countries.
Although the GDP and GNP growth rates in developing countries are on average higher than those in developed countries, the government spending for healthcare system is currently set at only small portion of GDP (World Bank 2012). People in rural areas constituting majorities of population in developing countries live on less than $1.90 a day. Therefore, there are enormously emerging needs and considerably growing interest in providing affordable and accessible healthcare delivery system for the underserved population in developing countries. The BME 7th is devoted for a wide range of work from fundamental to translational research to improve the healthcare technologies for low-income populations in developing countries.
